Billy Twomey wins Sports Council Classic at Dublin Horse Show
In the Jump-off for The Irish Sports Council Classic the first four riders had no penalties. Ireland showed the way when Billy Twomey of Cork won with a time of 48.11 on Tinka’s Serenade to narrowly beat Pieter Devos of Belgium who had a time of 48.21 on Tekila D.
In third place was Tipperary’s Denis Lynch on Upsolon D’Ocquier with a time of 49.47. Two other Irish riders - Edward Doyle and Cian O’Connor - featured in the top ten for the event.
Also on the first day of the Dublin Horse show Irish riders had a good showing in the Speed Stakes.
Molly Ashe-Cawley of the USA riding Lutopia won with a total of 67.73. Second was the first Irish rider Capt. Shane Carey on Cashla Bay with a total of 68.35 and he was followed closely by Robert Smith of GBR on Jerry Maguire with 69.29. Other Irish riders were 4th, 6th and 7th.
