Grand Hyatt Hong Kong plans on snapping up spectators for the Beijing 2008 Equestrian Events
Grahame Carder is VP, Marketing, Hyatt International Asia Pacific and outlined a massive expansion of Hyatt International into China for the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games and beyond.
The spread of the 2008 Summer Olympic venues across China - equestrian, Hong Kong; sailing, Qingdao; soccer, Shanghai; multiple events, Beijing - is good news for the hotel industry as Hyatt International expects to have eight or nine hotels finished in time for the huge spectator influx for the Olympics.
For example, the new 66-story Park Hyatt Beijing is expected to be finished by the end of 2007 and in total Hyatt International should have 11 hotels built in China within three years.
The main challenges for Hyatt International will be finding, training and retaining staff - especially in middle-management positions - needed for the new hotels and hoping China’s burgeoning might as an economic power will require all the new hotels so that they retain high occupancy after the olympics.
