Jacques Rogge says Hong Kong is ready for the Olympic Equestrian
IOC president Jacques Rogge said USD100 million Hong Kong facilities are ready for equestrian events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games although he expressed hope for better weather.
The pre-Olympic trial to test the facilities is currently being run with the Germans dominating the event. For example, in the cross-country Frank Ostholt of Germany was the only rider to beat the time limit and avoid any penalty points.
“The course was very twisty and turny and very up and down, so it was difficult to find a good rhythm,” Ostholt said after his round.
“Considering the amount of rain, it was very impressive how good the ground was.”
A new report from the FEI veterinary committee expressed concern that the conditions at the Olympic venue will be hot and humid with the risk of rain, thunderstorms and typhoons.
