Lucinda Fredericks dominates first day of Badminton Horse Trials
Australian Lucinda Fredericks has the advantage of seven penalties in hand after the first day of dressage at the Badminton Horse Trials. French rider Jean-Lou Bigot on Icare d’Auzay is second with Sharon Hunt on Tankers Town joint third and highest-placed Briton.
Zara Phillips on Toytown has yet to make her dressage debut at Badminton Horse Trials. Zara Phillips is the current World and European three-day event champion.
The Badminton Horse Trials comprise two days of dressage, one day of cross-country and finishes with the last day of jumping.
“Dressage is my easy phase, but I get quite nervous on Saturday and I’m a bit braver when I go hard and fast,” said the 41-year-old Lucinda Fredericks.
